Hamlets in Pan Pet Village are home to the Kayah women famous for wearing brass neck and leg rings.  Due to conflict in the area and lack of opportunity many of them left their homes in Kayah to Thailand where they became tourist attractions.

As conflict settles these women are starting to return to their villages. NGO ITC has helped to establish community based tourism initiatives to bring more autonomy and power to the people of the villages. As these women age the brass rings become too loose on their legs.  Some of these women are making use out of the no longer used brass rings by making bangles, selling them to the growing tourists that are visiting their villages through the community based tourism projects. These women are witty, entrepreneurial and willing to share their stories and their culture through their craft.
