Founded in 2019 by Winnie Mai, Ngi Mu Textiles began with the mission of creating livelihood opportunities by aligning traditional weaving knowledge with modern market needs. Operations were paused from 2021 to 2024 due to civil conflict, during which her family relocated to a safer area. In late 2024, she resumed activities with a renewed focus, building on her earlier foundation while adapting to the current realities.

As a Kayan woman herself,she is passionate about reviving traditional weaving techniques and empowering artisans to earn sustainable extra income. What truly drives her is honoring Myanmar’s cultural craftsmanship while creating meaningful economic opportunities for those preserving these beautiful traditions.

Today, she continue to empower women artisans, preserve cultural heritage, and promote sustainable, handmade textiles.
